Q.1. Read the passages and answer the questions that follow.1x10=10

Once upon a time, in a distant kingdom, there lived a king named Virendra. He was wealthy, powerful, and ruled over a prosperous land. However, the king had one major flaw-he loved being praised and surrounded himself with people who constantly flattered him, He believed every word of their praise, which made him blind to the truth. The king's ministers were mostly sycophants who fed his ego to stay in his good graces. They exaggerated his achievements, calling him the wisest ruler and the bravest warrior, even though he rarely left the comfort of his palace. Among these ministers was a cunning man named Jagat, who was especially skilled at flattery and manipulation.

One day, Jagat approached the king with an idea. "Your Majesty," he said, bowing deeply, "your wisdom and greatness are unparalleled. But wouldn't it be wonderful to display your divine status to the world by wearing clothes made only for a true king clothes so extraordinary that only the wise and worthy can see them?") Intrigued, the king asked, "Clothes that only the wise can see? Tell me more!" Jagat continued, "I know of a magical fabric that can reveal whether someone is wise or foolish. Only those deserving of their place in society can see it. Shall I bring the best weavers to create such garments for you?"

The king, eager to prove his wisdom and superiority, enthusiastically agreed. Jagat, however, had no intention of producing such clothes. Instead, he devised a plan to deceive the king and make a fortune, He hired two accomplices who pretended to be weavers. These so-called weavers worked day and night at empty looms, pretending to weave the magical fabric.

When the king sent his advisors to check on the progress, the weavers showed them the empty looms and exclaimed, "Look at this magnificent fabric! Feel its softness and admire its shimmering colors!" The advisors, afraid of being labelled foolish, pretended to see the fabric and praised its beauty. The king, delighted by their reports, decided to visit the weavers himself. When he saw the empty looms, he too pretended to admire the non-existent fabric, fearing that admitting he couldn't see it would make him appear unworthy. "It is truly exquisite!" the king declared. Finally, the day came when the "clothes" were ready. The weavers pretended to dress the king in the invisible garments. The king, now completely convinced of the fabric's magical properties, paraded through the streets to display his "new clothes." His ministers and subjects, all terrified of being seen as fools, praised the king's attire loudly. However, amidst the crowd was a small child who, unaware of the deceit, cried out, "The king isn't wearing any clothes!"

The crowd fell silent, and then whispers spread through the people, Embarrassed and realizing the truth, the king felt a surge of shame. He had been so blinded by his vanity and love for flattery that he had allowed himself to be fooled. The cunning Jagat and

accomplices fled the kingdom with the gold they had swindled. The king learned a hard lesson that day and resolved to be wiser, surround himself with honest advisors, and listen to the truth-even if it was uncomfortable.
